Junior AFL Training Ball, Size 3
The ball lands in small hands with the give of synthetic rubber, its tacky surface catching against fingertips before the first wobbly handpass. Size 3 — a 65cm circumference — sits between the palms of an eight-year-old like it was measured for them. Which, essentially, it was.
This is the ball that lives in the boot of the coach's car and comes out at three-thirty on winter afternoons, when the oval is still damp and the drills are still messy. Grippy enough for tentative marks, soft enough that a wayward kick to the shin becomes a moment of laughter rather than tears. The synthetic rubber construction holds up through seasons of scuffed contact with grass, gravel and the occasional garden fence, which matters when a club is investing in fifty of them at once.
The surface takes a print cleanly, meaning club colours, sponsor marks or a school crest sit crisp against the pebbled finish. For AFL programs, junior leagues, Auskick sessions and community sport days, it does the quiet work of putting a branded object into a child's weekly ritual — the sort of placement that lingers well past the final siren.
